Slag, a byproduct of iron and steel manufacturing, is increasingly utilized in cement grinding due to its beneficial properties. Incorporating slag into cement not only enhances the performance of the final product but also promotes sustainability by recycling industrial waste.
Types of Slag Used in Cement:
Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBFS):
Produced by quenching molten slag from a blast furnace in water or steam to produce a glassy, granular product that is then dried and ground into a fine powder.
Steel Slag:
Derived from the steelmaking process, usually requiring additional treatment to remove impurities and optimize its cementitious properties.
