Vertical mills, such as the VERTIMILL® and SMD™, are becoming increasingly popular for grinding gold ore. These mills use a vertical rotating shaft with a number of grinding discs arranged on it. The ore is fed into the mill through a central inlet and is ground between the discs as the shaft rotates.
