Can pumice be used for sand production?

Pumice is a type of acidic lava that results from volcanic eruptions and rapid cooling. It is a glassy rock with a characteristic porous structure resembling pearls, hence its name. As natural resources are continuously depleting and in order to protect ecological balance and facilitate structural adjustments, manufactured sand has become a primary raw material in various industries. However, can pumice be used for sand production? And which pumice sand making machine is recommended?
Pumice is a lightweight and versatile new material that is formed through expansion. It has low apparent density, low thermal conductivity, excellent chemical stability, a wide range of operating temperatures, minimal moisture absorption, and is non-toxic, odorless, fire-resistant, and sound-absorbing. It is considered a green and environmentally friendly construction material.
After undergoing sand production processes, the resulting rock particles have a size smaller than 4.75mm. They possess high quality, minimal impurities, and their granular shape is mostly polyhedral. There are no fine cracks or needle-like components, and the particle size distribution is even. The fineness modulus is adjustable. The manufactured sand can be used as aggregate for concrete, fireproof roofing, lightweight insulation materials for high-rise building walls (to resist freezing, seismic activity, fire, and radiation), as well as filling material for rubber and plastic products, pigments, paints, inks, synthetic glass, thermal insulation boards, and some mechanical components and equipment.
Pumice mainly exists in block, porous, and floatstone forms, with a Mohs hardness ranging from 5.5 to 7. There are various types of sand making machines available in the market. However, based on the characteristics of the material, I would recommend an impact sand making machine. It is suitable for various types of soft, medium-hard, and high-hardness ore materials. This machine is a new generation product with several independently developed features. It combines stone-on-stone and stone-on-iron working modes and can produce 40-650 tons per hour, making it highly popular in the industry.
