Types of lime stone crusher

Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed mainly of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). It is commonly used as a building material and is also a key ingredient in cement, making lime, and many other industrial applications. When it comes to crushing limestone, various types of crushers can be utilized depending on the desired size of the end product and the capacity requirements. Here are some common types of limestone crushers:

Jaw Crusher: A jaw crusher is a primary crusher that uses compressive force to reduce the size of large limestone rocks. It consists of a fixed jaw plate and a movable jaw plate, with the material being crushed between them. Jaw crushers are commonly used in the initial stage of crushing.

Impact Crusher: An impact crusher uses the principle of impact and striking to crush limestone. It utilizes hammers or blow bars that rotate at high speed to impact the material. This type of crusher is often used in the secondary or tertiary crushing stages to produce a well-shaped and fine-grained product.

Cone Crusher: A cone crusher is similar to a gyratory crusher, but with less steepness in the crushing chamber and more parallel crushing zones. It breaks the limestone by squeezing it between an eccentrically gyrating spindle and a concave hopper. Cone crushers are commonly used in the secondary and tertiary crushing stages.

Hammer Crusher: A hammer crusher, also known as a hammer mill, is a crushing device that uses high-speed hammer blows to crush and disintegrate the limestone. It operates on the principle of impact and attrition. Hammer crushers are suitable for primary and secondary crushing of limestone with low to medium hardness.

Roll Crusher: A roll crusher consists of two counter-rotating rolls, which compress the limestone between them. The rolls have a relatively smooth surface and are used mainly for coal and soft rock crushing. However, they can also be used for limestone depending on the hardness and abrasiveness of the material.

Vertical Shaft Impact (VSI) Crusher: A VSI crusher uses a high-speed rotor with wear-resistant tips to crush limestone by impact and attrition. It is particularly effective for producing cubical-shaped particles and fine aggregate for concrete production.

These are some of the common types of crushers used for limestone crushing. The selection of the appropriate crusher depends on factors such as the required product size, capacity, abrasiveness of the material, and the specific application or end use.
